Chat with the W&B Agent to ask questions about your project, get recommendations for next steps, and build visualizations and reports.

Ask W&B Agent a question

The W&B Agent has access to the project that you’re currently viewing. To ask the agent about a different project, navigate to that project, then open W&B Agent. The input field shows which project the agent can access. To ask the agent a question:
  1. Navigate to your project’s workspace.
  2. Click W&B Agent in the upper-right corner of the page.

  3. In the modal, enter your question or request.
  4. Click Send (button with an up arrow).

View W&B Agent’s response

After you submit your question, the agent processes your request and shows a response in the chat window. Depending on the complexity of your question, the agent might take a few moments to respond. While the agent works, you might see Reasoning and tool steps:
  • Reasoning steps summarize how the agent is approaching your question.
  • Tool steps show when the agent uses a W&B tool, such as creating a panel or filtering runs.
Click on the Reasoning or Tool step to expand more details about the agent’s thought process or the specific tool action it took, respectively. For example, the following image shows a tool step where the agent ran a Python script (uv run analyze_patterns.py) it developed to analyze patterns across runs.

Start a new chat

To start a new chat, open the W&B Agent, then click Start a new chat (pencil icon). Starting a new chat does not delete your previous conversations. To view previous conversations, open the Chat history tab.

To view previous conversations with the W&B Agent:
  1. Open the W&B Agent.
  2. Click Chat history.
  3. Select a conversation.

Provide feedback

Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icon at the end of the response to provide feedback on W&B Agent’s response. Your feedback helps W&B improve W&B Agent’s performance and accuracy.
